Yost on 'official team' bill: 'I don't care about that stuff'

To paraphrase one of Hedley (not Hedy) Lamarr's henchmen in Blazing Saddles: "Adages? We don't need no stinkin' adages."

Which kind of sums up Ned Yost's thoughts about a proposed resolution in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Missouri State Rep. Courtney Curtis has introduced a bill that would designate the St. Louis Cardinals as "the official baseball team of the state of Missouri." Not surprisingly, Curtis hails from a St. Louis suburb, one called Ferguson (which might sound familiar).

The manager of the world champion Kansas City Royals couldn't care less.

"Good for him. He's a Cardinal fan," Yost said.

When asked for further comment, the skipper said he didn't care about the resolution and the Royals have "the greatest fans in baseball."
