CINCINNATI (AP) -- Freshman forward Dez Wells has a sprained big toe and won't practice leading up to Xavier's NCAA tournament game on Friday against Baylor in Atlanta.
Wells got hurt when a player landed on his leg during a win over Lehigh on Sunday that sent the Musketeers (23-12) into the round of 16. He played only 8 minutes and didn't score. Wells is Xavier's third-leading scorer, averaging 10 points and 4.9 rebounds.
Coach Chris Mack also said Tuesday that starting forward Andre Walker is resting this week. Walker was hit in the head during an opening win over Notre Dame, and was limited to 20 minutes in the victory over Lehigh.
The Musketeers are in the round of 16 for the fourth time in five years.
