Byeong-Hun An earned a spot in this year's U.S. Open at Chambers Bay courtesy of his victory at the BMW PGA Championship. An, who is now ranked 54th in the Official World Golf Ranking, was a semifinalist at the 2010 U.S. Amateur held at Chambers Bay.
But An wasn't the only player who secured a U.S. Open berth this week. Twenty-four players punched their tickets to Chambers Bay via the Official World Golf Ranking's top 60 on Monday.
Those players are: J.B. Holmes (13), Ian Poulter (24), Lee Westwood (26), Jamie Donaldson (27), Victor Dubuisson (30), Ryan Moore (34), Thongchai Jaidee (35), Paul Casey (36), Branden Grace (37), Danny Willett (39), Anirban Lahiri (43), Miguel Angel Jimenez (44), Joost Luiten (45), Matt Every (46), Bern Wiesberger (47), Ben Martin (48), Shane Lowry (50), Stephen Gallacher (51), Tommy Fleetwood (52), Charley Hoffman (55), George Coetzee (57), Francesco Molinari (58), Marc Warren (59) and Marc Leishman (60).
Jimenez and Molinari moved into the top 60 after strong finishes at Wentworth. Cameron Tringale, Alexander Levy and Luke Donald dropped out, although Tringale already is in the U.S. Open field after qualifying for last season's Tour Championship.
The only ways left to qualify for the June 18-21 major at Chambers Bay are by advancing via sectional qualifying or moving into the top 60 for the June 15 cutoff.
