Wolves Wednesday: Love returns to action

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love will be back in action Wednesday after missing one game with an eye injury, the team announced.

Love was poked in the eye late in Minnesota's game against Oklahoma City on Dec. 20. He missed Sunday's game in New York against the Knicks, which the Wolves lost 94-91 at Madison Square Garden.

The eye injury was the latest in a series of setbacks for the 24-year-old Love. He missed the start of the season after breaking his hand doing knuckle pushups, and was later sidelined due to flu-like symptoms.

In 14 games this season, Love is averaging 19.6 points and 13.9 rebounds per game. He had 28 points and 11 boards in Minnesota's win over Oklahoma City before leaving the game when he was poked in the eye.

Wednesday will mark just the third game in which Love and point guard Ricky Rubio will have both played in this year. Rubio, who was returning from a torn ACL, didn't play in his first game until Dec. 15 -- a game which Love missed due to flu-like symptoms. Rubio did not play in the second of back-to-back games earlier this month against Miami.
