Amidst ongoing rumors the Timberwolves are going to trade away their best player, the team's youngest player is trying to give Minnesota fans a reason to be excited about next season.
Rookie Zach LaVine put on an awe-inspiring, gravity-defying dunk show at the Seattle Pro-Am All-Star Game on Sunday. LaVine's array of high-flying flushes, including through-the-legs windmills, 360-degree jams and a slam from the free throw line, had spectators buzzing and gave the Timberwolves a reprieve from the Kevin Love carousel of constant trade speculation.
LaVine played well in Las Vegas during the NBA Summer League earlier this month, scoring 20 points in one game and displaying his athleticism throughout the circuit. The 19-year-old who was Minnesota's first-round draft pick out of UCLA has showed early confidence and promise, perhaps permitting Timberwolves fans a bit of optimism even as the team reportedly continues to shop Love to other teams around the league.
