Corey Brewer had a ferocious fast-break dunk. Michael Beasley elevated for an emphatic rejection. Wayne Ellington provided instant offense off the bench.
But these were all mutually exclusive events for a Minnesota Timberwolves team that, besides a few moments like the aforementioned, struggled to produce any momentum while playing on the road against a Dallas Mavericks squad with the second-best record in the Western Conference.
Suffice to say, it was no recipe for success. Minnesota lost 100-86 to Dallas for its seventh loss in eight games and fifth consecutive. The Wolves fell to 1-9 away from Target Center while Dallas won its seventh straight contest. Minnesota has dropped 16 of its last 17 meetings with the Mavericks.
