Wojo adds second Marquette commit in 6-foot-10 Heldt
Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski has received his second commitment in the class of 2015, as Neenah (Wis.) High School forward Matt Heldt announced his pledge to the Golden Eagles on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-10 Heldt received a scholarship offer from Wojciechowski in April and already had offers from Xavier, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa and Toledo. According to an interview he did with an Indiana basketball website, Heldt was drawing interest from the Hoosiers, as well as Clemson and Northwestern. Heldt is listed as a three-star recruit by Scout.com.
"Ecstatic to be committed to Marquette! Thanks to everyone who has helped me on my journey so far. #blessed," Heldt tweeted Tuesday afternoon.
This past season, Heldt led Neenah to a 26-2 record and a trip to the WIAA Division I state championship game, averaging 18.2 points per game. Heldt scored 27 points with nine rebounds in Neenah's 58-41 victory over Mukwonago in the state semifinal and finished with 11 points and nine rebounds in a state championship game loss to Germantown.
Heldt is the second member of the class of 2015 to commit to Marquette, as Sun Prairie (Wis.) High School point guard Nick Noskowiak re-committed to the Golden Eagles on May 1 after opening up his recruiting process following Buzz Williams' departure to Virginia Tech.
