With Koivu on IR, Wild recalls McMillan
SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the NHL club has recalled forward Carson McMillan from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) and reassigned goaltender Matt Hackett to Houston. The team also placed C Mikko Koivu on Injured Reserve.
McMillan, 23, has recorded eight points (3-5=8), 19 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-5 rating in 29 games with Houston this season. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound native of Brandon, Manitoba made his NHL debut with the Wild on April 3, 2011 at Detroit and registered a goal. In four games with Minnesota last season he recorded two points (1-1=2) and a plus-1 rating. McMillan registered 22 points (12-10=22) and 80 PIM in 78 regular season contests in 2010-11 with Houston and added five points (3-2=5) in 21 playoff games. He was originally selected by the Wild in the seventh round (200th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. McMillan wears sweater #45 for Minnesota.
Hackett, 21, was recalled by Minnesota on Jan. 11 and stopped all eight shots faced in a relief effort at Chicago on Jan. 12. In three games with the Wild this season he is 2-0-0 with a 0.85 goals against average (GAA) and a .977 save percentage. Hackett is 13-6-3 with a 2.29 goals against average (GAA), a .922 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout in 23 games with the Aeros.
