DETROIT -- The Red Wings had the day off Thursday after dropping a 4-3 decision in overtime to the New York Rangers.
Unfortunately for backup goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, it's not likely to be only one day off as he injured his shoulder on the game-winning goal by Derick Brassard.
Athletic trainer Piet Van Zant came out on the ice to attend to Gustavsson after the game.
Gustavsson appeared to be in a lot of pain as he was doubled over skating off the ice.
"It's long-term in the sense that it's going to be weeks," general manager Ken Holland told The Detroit News in a text message. "But we don't know until he gets (MRI results) tomorrow."
The Wings recalled goaltender Petr Mrazek from the Grand Rapids (AHL) Griffins Thursday.
Mrazek, 22, has played in 11 NHL games since the 2012-13 season and has a 3-5-0 record, 1.80 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
With the Griffins this season, Mrazek is 1-2-0 with a 3.80 goals-against average and an .854 save percentage in four games.
After recalling Mrazek, the Wings reassigned goaltender Jared Coreau from the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) to the Griffins.
