Wings playoff tickets on sale Friday
For the 24th straight spring, the Red Wings are selling Stanley Cup playoff tickets.
Starting Friday, fans will be able to buy tickets for each of the team's first two potential opening-round home games against a to-be-determined opponent. Of course, the Wings still have to determine themselves as playoff participants. Entering Monday night's games, they were third in the Atlantic Division, five points ahead of Boston.
The Wings (39-21-11, 89 points) have 11 games remaining, including seven home games, in their regular season. Their next game is Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. against visiting Arizona, on FOX Sports Detroit.
Hockeytown's NHL playoff streak, which began in 1991, is the longest active streak in all of North American major professional sports. By comparison, the longest active streaks in the other three major pro sports are: 18 years for the NBA's San Antonio Spurs, six years for the NFL's Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots, and four years for MLB's Detroit Tigers.
To purchase tickets, phone the Joe Louis Arena Box Office at 313-471-7575, or Ticketmaster outlets at 800-475-3000 or visit: detroitredwings.com
