DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings' schedule is a little odd with the Boston Bruins returning to Joe Louis Arena for the second time in less than a week.

But that's who comes to town for Wednesday night's game.

The Wings expect the Bruins to be a little testy as they have lost three straight and scored a total of four goals in four games.

The Wings beat the Bruins in their home opener last Thursday, 2-1.

"I think anytime you play Boston, it's going to be a good game," Drew Miller said. "They come hard, especially against us. I think us winning last game, we know they're going to be hungry and they've scored four goals so they're gonna be hungry because of that and ready to go. I wouldn't expect anything different from them and same as us."

The Bruins will look slightly different than they did a week ago.

"They'll have (David) Krejci back in their lineup so they're a better team than we played last," Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "We just try and battle hard and not give up much space. They're a real good team. They've got all the pieces. They're a team that needs a win badly. We're a team that needs a win badly. It should be a good game."

Although things didn't work out against the Bruins in the playoffs last season, in the regular season the Wings are 8-1 against them since the 2009-10 season.

The Wings have outscored them 29-15 in those games.

"I find that our team comes to play a lot when we play them," Brendan Smith said. "Just good competition in general. We play well against them because we dial in and do what our roles are, getting pucks deep and making sure we stay on their D and work their D down low and tire them out that way. So you put a lot of offensive time, it's grind time, it makes them work hard defensively and puts a toll on them, so that's something we have to continue to do and I think we'll be successful if we do that. Mainly, that's what we want to be doing. And I think we've done that well. That's maybe a reason why we are 8-1 or whatever against them in the regular season."
