William Farish to receive Eclipse Award of Merit

Lane's End Farm owner William S. Farish has been chosen to receive an Eclipse Award of Merit for outstanding achievement in thoroughbred racing.

Farish is an owner and breeder, and vice chairman of The Jockey Club. He also was the former chairman of the executive committee of the Breeders' Cup and currently serves as chairman of the board.

Among the top stallions currently at Lane's End near Lexington are 1992 Horse of the Year A.P. Indy and 2003 Horse of the Year Mineshaft. Farish is a two-time Eclipse Award winner as leading breeder, and he was the co-breeder of Seattle Dancer, who sold for a yearling record price of $13.1 million in 1985.

The honor was announced on Tuesday. The Eclipse Awards will be presented Jan. 18.
