If open weeks in the schedule give college football teams a chance to look back at who they really are, perhaps Saturday will give Ohio State fans a chance to see who their favorite football team really is.

Even nine games into the season, the data that's been available to collect might be somewhat misleading.

The schedule has not been daunting, especially considering the ups and downs of Miami (Fla.), and the Buckeyes have been somewhat inconsistent on both sides of the ball at various times.

Following the 36-24 win against the Hurricanes on Sept. 11, the coaching staff talked about making the passing game more efficient. They tackled that task with great success in the coming weeks, but that was at the expense of repetitions for the running game.

When Wisconsin took the pass away Oct. 16, the Buckeyes rediscovered their running game, albeit too late to salvage a win in Madison. That 31-18 loss is Ohio State's only blemish on the schedule, and it just so happens to be their only game against a team ranked in the top 25 at the moment.

The outcome of that one is also a head-scratcher not just for some Ohio State fans but even the head coach of the team the Buckeyes will oppose this weekend.
