Wildcats beat Sun Devils in Pac-12 volleyball

TUCSON, Ariz. – Sophomore Madi Kingdon recorded 20 kills, 11 digs and four blocks to lift the Arizona (9-3, 1-0 Pac-12) volleyball team to a Pac-12 opening win over Arizona State, 3-1, on Tuesday night at McKale Center. Scores were 25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21.

The Arizona defense was outstanding all night as the Cats held ASU (11-3, 0-1 Pac-12) to a .107 hitting percentage while tying a season-high with 14 blocks. UA had a .204 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Rachel Rhoades was strong at the net with nine kills and just one error on 17 swings, while adding six blocks. Freshman Olivia Magill had a season-high seven blocks, and junior Candice Nicholson led the team with 21 digs.

Erica Wilson paced ASU with 18 kills, Macey Gardner added 15 kills and Allison Palmer dished out 40 assists.
