ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild have traded forwards Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri to the New York Rangers in exchange for center Mike Rupp, the team announced Monday.
Rupp, 33, has played 10 seasons in the NHL, most recently with the Rangers. In 565 games, Rupp has scored 53 goals and 41 assists while also tallying 765 penalty minutes. Prior to playing with the Rangers, the 33-year-old Rupp spent time with the Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, Columbus Blue Jackets and Phoenix Coyotes.
The 27-year-old Powe has played in eight games this season with the Wild but did not tally a point. He had six goals and seven assists in 82 games with Minnesota last year. Powe's NHL debut came during the 2008-09 season with Philadelphia.
Palmieri was a third-round pick of the Devils in 2007 and made his NHL debut with New Jersey during the 2009-10 season. The Wild acquired the 23-year-old Palmieri last February, and he played nine games for Minnesota last season but did not register a point. In 40 games with the AHL's Houston Aeroes this year, Palmieri had 10 goals and 11 assists.
Minnesota is on the road Monday to take on the Phoenix Coyotes.
