Wild recalls Falk, reassigns Dumba to Iowa
The Minnesota Wild altered its stable of defensemen on Saturday, recalling Justin Falk from Iowa of the American Hockey League while also sending prospect Matt Dumba down to the AHL affiliate.
Falk, 26, played three earlier contests with Minnesota this season, and he recorded three points in 16 games with Iowa. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder has produced 17 points in 132 NHL games with the Wild and the New York Rangers. Falk was originally selected by the Wild in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and signed as a free agent with Minnesota on Aug. 1.
Also on Saturday, the Wild sent Dumba down to Des Moines to get extra seasoning. Dumba, 20, tallied four points in 20 contests with Minnesota earlier this season. His point total had ranked fourth among rookie blueliners in the NHL. Dumba has produced six points in 33 career games with the Wild. The 6-foot, 189-pounder was selected in the first round (seventh overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Minnesota hosts St. Louis tonight at 7 p.m. in a game set to be televised on FOX Sports North.
