Wild recall Veilleux from Iowa, reassign Bickel
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild announced on Thursday that the club has recalled forward Stephane Veilleux from Iowa of the American Hockey League. Minnesota also announced that it has reassigned defenseman Stu Bickel to Iowa.
Veilleux, 32, has accumulated 12 penalty minutes and 10 shots in seven games with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-1, 199-pound Quebec native tallied nine penalty minutes, two shots and 10 hits in four preseason games with Minnesota. He has compiled 104 points and 338 penalty minutes in 494 NHL games with Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey. Veilleux ranks fourth in Wild history in hits (437) and eighth in games played (416). He was originally selected by the Wild in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Bickel, 28, had been recalled on Oct. 28. The Chanhassen, Minn., native totaled an assist and 19 penalty minutes in five preseason games with Minnesota. Bickel signed as a free agent with the Wild on July 1.
Minnesota hosts San Jose at the Xcel Energy Center tonight at 7 p.m., in a game set to be televised on FOX Sports North PLUS.
