SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Some of the Minnesota Wild's top players and prospects will compete in the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship starting Friday in Finland and Sweden.

Goalie Matt Hackett will represent Canada, 2010 first-round draft pick Mikael Granlund and captain Mikko Koivu will play for Finland, Dennis Endras will play for Germany and 2011 first-round draft pick Jonas Brodin and 2010 second-round draft pick Johan Larsson will represent Sweden.

The top two teams in the 16-team tournament will have to play 10 games to reach the final on May 20. Granlund and Koivu helped Finland defeat Sweden, 6-1, in the gold medal game last year.
