Wild agree to terms with Michael Keranen
The Wild are keeping forward Michael Keranen in their plans.
Minnesota announced Friday it had agreed to terms with Keranen, the second-leading scorer for the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Iowa, on a two-way contract for next season.
Keranen, 25, had 10 goals and 27 assists in 70 games for the Iowa Wild last season, his first season in North American after Minnesota signed the skilled forward out of the Finnish Elite League. Keranen led Iowa in assists, was second in scoring and third with 147 shots.
A former Lasse Oksanen Award winner given to the best player in the Finnish Elite League during the regular season, Keranen had 17 goals, 35 assists and a plus-12 rating in 52 games for Ilves Tampere in his final season in Finland. He tied for first in the league in scoring and tied for second in assists.
