The Minnesota Wild could be getting a defenseman back in time for Sunday's game against the Colorado Avalanche.

Minnesota activated Jared Spurgeon from the injured reserve list Sunday. Spurgeon has missed eight games with an upper-body injury.

Spurgeon had been skating and could make his return in the final game between the Wild and Colorado this season. Minnesota didn't hold a morning skate Sunday and coach Mike Yeo is scheduled to speak with reporters later Sunday before the game.

Spurgeon, 25, has seven goals and 11 assists in 50 games this season. Spurgeon is third on the team with an average of 23 minutes, 8 seconds of ice time per game and is second among the team's defensemen with 106 shots.
