Amherst quarterback Garrett Groshek was explosive both on the ground and through the air, throwing for 172 yards and four touchdowns, while rumbling for 161 and two touchdowns on the ground, as Amherst beat Spencer/Columbus Catholic 42-0 to take home the WIAA Division 5 state championship.

Groshek was named the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association's offensive player of the year, leading Amherst to a 14-0 record.

Spencer/Columbus Catholic failed to muster much of a counterattack, finishing with just 124 yards of total offense. The win marks the second consecutive Division 5 championship for Amherst, which lost to Lancaster last season.
