In a rematch of the 2015 WIAA Division 3 championship game, Catholic Memorial used a tough defense and some big plays to beat Notre Dame 24-14 and avenge last year's loss.

The Crusaders scored on a 70-yard run by Jaylen Campbell, a 62-yard touchdown pass from Ben Nimz to Max Cooper and Eric Fridl's 44-yard interception return. Campbell finished with 167 yards on 22 carries.

Notre Dame tied the game at 7 in the first quarter on a Nate Ihlenfeldt 6-yard run to cap off an 80-yard drive, but Catholic Memorial scored the next 17 points before the Tritons scored on an Ihlenfeld 7-yard TD reception with just 2:33 left in the game.

It was too little, too late for Notre Dame, which won last year thanks to a touchdown with a little over three minutes remaining.
