White, Gordon 'dance craze' sweeping through Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin running backs Melvin Gordon and James White have celebrated plenty of touchdowns on the sidelines this season, scoring at a rate nearly unmatched in college football. Now, the pair has another reason to celebrate -- their own "dance craze" video.
The Wisconsin athletic department produced a video entitled: "Wisconsin Football: Dance Craze," that published Thursday morning. The video shows dozens of people across campus imitating Gordon and White's sideline antics, low-fiving, sliding and running in place.
"Hey, J White, man," Gordon tells White during the video introduction. "You've been getting the rock in the end zone a lot this year, bro."
"I know," White replies. "Been doing that touchdown dance a lot. You think anybody doing it out there?"
The video then cuts to athletic director and former Badgers football coach Barry Alvarez trying out the new dance with former Heisman Trophy running back Ron Dayne, among others. It also features scenes involving Bucky the Badgers and the entire Wisconsin band.
Gordon and White have combined to score 18 touchdowns this season. Gordon ranks No. 4 nationally in rushing yards per game (144.6) and is tied for ninth with 11 rushing scores. White averages 96.0 yards rushing a game and has seven rushing touchdowns. Only Oregon's running back combination of Byron Marshall and Thomas Tyner has more touchdowns with 20.
