Where's Sterling wins Iselin at Monmouth Park

Frank C. Calabrese's Where's Sterling ran down Southern Ridge in the stretch for a one-length victory in the $250,000 Philip H. Iselin Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Where's Sterling, with Paco Lopez aboard, covered the 1 1/8 miles for 3-year-olds and up in 1:48 2/5. The 4-year-old colt paid $8.20, $4.80 and $4 as the second choice in the field of eight.

Southern Ridge returned $9.20 and $6.80. Ponzo Scheme finished another 61/4 lengths back in third to earn $3.60 to show.

The victory was the third in eight starts for Where's Sterling, who has earned $224,110 for his connections.

Earlier on the card, Finale ($2.40) romped to a 101/2-length victory in the $65,000 Continental Mile Stakes.
