Westlake QB Henry commits to Florida State
As it turns out, "Famous Jameis" made playing baseball and football, well, famous.
Watching Jameis Winston pitch for the Florida State baseball program is something that appealed to Westlake quarterback Malik Henry, who's also a baseball pitcher.
The decision came down to much more than just baseball but ultimately it was the Seminoles who got the nod for Henry's services the junior quarterback announced on national television Thursday.
"I do plan to play baseball," Henry said.
Henry says the Florida State coaches, similar to how they've handled Winston are "OK" with him playing both sports. He's also talked to Winston and says the reigning Heisman Trophy winner has had "nothing but good things" to say about Florida State.
The junior signal caller is the No. 2 quarterback in the class of 2016, according to Scout.com, and chose Florida State over UCLA, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.
Henry continues a trail of California quarterbacks to head to the Sunshine State to play collegiately. Chaminade class of 2014 product Brad Kaaya is currently starting for Miami as a freshman. Rancho Verde class of 2015 quarterback Sheriron Jones is currently committed to Florida and Thursday Henry announced his pledge to the Seminoles.
