EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft.
The school announced Waynes' decision Sunday. The deadline for underclassmen to declare themselves eligible for the draft is Jan. 15.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound Waynes had three interceptions this season, helping the seventh-ranked Spartans (11-2) to another fine season. Waynes also had three interceptions as a sophomore, when Michigan State won the Rose Bowl.
Coach Mark Dantonio calls Waynes a tremendous football player and a great ambassador for the program.
