Wayne Bennett hired to coach England rugby league team
LONDON (AP) Wayne Bennett has been hired to coach England's rugby league team.
The 66-year-old Australian signed a two-year deal that encompasses the 2016 Four Nations Series and the 2017 World Cup.
Bennett says he's been ''impressed by the ambition and energy demonstrated by the team and I look forward to working with a group of players that I believe have what it takes to succeed on the international stage.''
Bennett, who succeeds Steve McNamara, will continue to coach the Brisbane Broncos and he will be in England later this month for the World Club Series.
