Italian skier Christof Innerhofer inadvertently finished the World Cup downhill course in Santa Caterina on Tuesday as a party of two.

About a minute into his run, Innerhofer got his arm wrapped around a gate, after which the bright orange pole and flag stubbornly stuck to him most of the way down despite Innerhofer's high rate of speed. Check it out (via Eurosport):

The pole fell off before the end but Innerhofer finished with the flag, which he can keep as a badge of honor for still managing to finish fourth overall and only 0.07 off the podium.

"Bode Miller's no longer around so there needs to be another crazy guy," Innerhofer said. "It was really at the limit and very dangerous. I couldn't see and I was carrying the pole and the panel. ... It felt like a parachute behind me."
