ARLINGTON, Texas -- If Rangers pitcher Tanner Scheppers wins a berth to the All-Star Game, the fans who vote for him can win, too.
The Rangers announced a special sweepstakes Sunday to encourage fans to vote for Scheppers in the Final Vote competition – where fans can choose the final member of each league's team.
Fans who participate in the Vote #TakeTanner All-Star Game Final Vote Sweepstakes can win the following prizes:
• Two innings sitting with Nolan Ryan in his home plate seats for the winner and a guest.
• A ride around the warning track in the Boomstick car for the winner and a guest.
• Pre-game photo opportunity from Ron Washington's seat in the dugout, plus watch batting practice from behind home plate.
• An inning in the booth with Chuck Morgan, the Voice of Rangers Ballpark
• The chance to hold the finish line on the field for either the Dot Race or Texas Legends Dash.
All fans who vote for Scheppers will be entered into the sweepstakes. There is no limit to the number of times fans can vote, but only the first 25 votes will be registered as entries for the sweepstakes.
Fans can vote at MLB.com/vote or by texting A4 to 89269. Standard message and data rates apply. Fans in Canada can vote A4 to 101010.
Also, fans can vote on Twitter by tweeting the #TakeTanner in the final six hours of balloting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Texas time on Thursday, July 11.
Scheppers is 5-1 with a 1.88 in 42 relief appearances for the Rangers this season. He has never been selected for the All-Star team.
The 2013 Major League All-Star Game is July 16 at New York's Citi Field.
