The teams for the 2013 Pro Bowl were announced Wednesday and only two players were selected from Florida's trifecta of teams.
Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake will start for the AFC, while Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will start for the NFC in the Pro Bowl on Jan. 27.
Wake, who earned his second Pro Bowl trip in three seasons, has a career-high 15 sacks, fourth in the NFL
"It's really an honor, I couldn't do it obviously without the guys around me," Wake was quoted on the Dolphins' official web site.
"I think, when these individual honors come out, it shows what kind of guys you have around you. Everybody knows that, as a pass rusher, your best friends are the guys behind you. Your DBs (defensive backs) have these receivers covered. The big guys in the middle take two and you can get one and they kind of make your job a little easier. I think this truly is not just an individual honor, but it's kind of a testament to the way these guys play defense, everybody on Miami's side."
McCoy, in his third season, is the first Bucs defensive lineman voted into the Pro Bowl since Warren Sapp and Simeon Rice in 2003.
"It's been hard, but God has really blessed me," McCoy was quoted on the Buccaneers' official site. "He's allowed me to stay healthy this year and that's a big reason why I was able to play the way I was because I got to stay on the field. The biggest thing [is] that my peers think that much of me to vote me in. I'm at a loss for words, because this is a dream come true. When I got drafted, it was a dream, but this is unbelievable."
Three Buccaneers were named as alternates: wide receiver Vincent Jackson, running back Doug Martin and free safety Ronde Barber.
No Jaguars were named to the Pro Bowl roster, though rookie punter Bryan Anger is a second alternate and fullback Greg Jones is a third alternate. Only twice in Jaguars history have the Jaguars not had a player in the game (1995 and 2008).
