EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings are apparently going to any lengths to overhaul an aging roster that finished tied for the worst record in franchise history in 2011.

Minnesota signed Nick Taylor, a former point guard on the Florida International University basketball team, to a three-year contract on Friday. Taylor was listed as 5-foot-10, 165 pounds in his final season in 2009-10 with the Panthers. According to a report from ESPN1500's Tom Pelissero, Taylor spent last season playing in a minor arena football league as a cornerback.

Taylor, 23, worked out at FIU's pro day on Wednesday, where he was reportedly clocked at 4.30 in the 40-yard dash. The Vikings brought in Taylor for a private workout on Friday, then signed him.

Taylor tweeted the news @NickTaylor32, writing, "Im a Viking!!!!"

He played three seasons for the FIU basketball team, averaging 1.3 points and 1.7 assists per-game.
