EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Playing in the Minnesota Vikings' 4-3 defense, outside linebacker Chad Greenway doesn't always get the same credit the pass-rushing outside linebackers in 3-4 systems receive.
Greenway clearly has earned a strong reputation though.
Greenway was named No. 70 in the NFL Network's Top 100 list of NFL players, as chosen by votes of players in the league. It's Greenway's first time on the list.
Minnesota's first-round pick in 2006, Greenway has led the Vikings in tackles each of the past five seasons and finished off his second Pro Bowl season in 2012 with 148 tackles, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, four pass deflections and an interception. He's finished third in the league in tackles for two straight seasons.
Greenway has started all but one game in the past six seasons since missing his rookie year with a knee injury. Greenway is one of the leaders on Minnesota's defense, and the Vikings locked him up to a new contract in 2011 through the 2015 season.
Minnesota had only two players on the list last season — running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Jared Allen. Greenway is the second player from the Vikings roster last season to appear on the list. Receiver Percy Harvin, traded to the Seattle Seahawks in March, was No. 90 on the list.
