Vikings delay game for Twin Cities Marathon
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have switched the game time of their Week 5 contest against the Tennessee Titans to avoid conflict with the Twin Cities Marathon being run the same day.
The marathon starts near Minnesota's Mall of America Field in the morning on Oct. 7 and the Vikings' moved the kickoff of their game back to 3:25 p.m. Central time to accommodate the marathon.
One of the few afternoon starts on Minnesota schedule, the Vikings will also play the following week at Washington in a 3:25 p.m. Central time start.
Minnesota opens training camp on July 27 and also switched its typical training camp practice schedule this season. This year, the Vikings will be conducting walk-throughs for the morning portion of two-a-days practice with the full padded practice scheduled for the afternoons in Mankato, Minn., home of the Vikings' training camp for 47 consecutive years. Morning walk-throughs are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with practices in the afternoon starting at 2:45 p.m.
