Santa Barbara high school guard Noah Burke sunk a buzzer-beating half-court shot to beat crosstown rival San Marcos, 56-55, in overtime on Friday night.
With the win, the Santa Barbara Dons (5-3) inch closer to the Channel League title with San Marcos (6-2) still in first place. The win by the Dons was the first over the Royals in the last three meetings.
According to Presidio Sports, Burke said, “It just felt good when I let it go. God was on my side on that one.”
It’s like a dream. I don’t even understand this is happening right now. I felt like I was on top of the world for a couple of seconds,” he said.
The race for first is now dependent on the final round of
league — Santa Barbara has three games remaining, while San Marcos has four.
