Vegas buzzes with energy for electronics show

“What are we doing here?” was probably the question we asked ourselves the most at CES.

“What are they doing here?” came in a close second.

CES (the International Consumer Electronics Show) is the largest trade show in North America. My photographer, Mike, and I made up two of the 140,000 who invaded Las Vegas -- among them vendors, journalists, buyers, members of the industry, celebrities and what-seemed-like-but-might-not-have-been exotic dancers (more on that in a few). Sin City was slammed: Hotel rooms that normally go for $39/night at the Riviera sold for $499/night. Rental car lots were a barren wasteland.

The general public can't buy a ticket to CES -– you have to have some sort of business purpose. Ours was a quest to find the latest tech for sports fans coming this year (see video), but there were plenty of oddities worth sharing. Here's a sampling of our two-day jaunt through CES:
