V V Goodnight uses late surge to win Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) V V Goodnight overtook American Girl in the closing strides to win by a nose in the $41,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Friday.

Trained by Thomas Proctor and Keiber Coa, the 4-year-old filly ran the 1 1/16 miles over a good turf course in 1:44 3/5 and paid $12.80, $6.20 and $3.80. It was her third win in 17 career starts.

American Girl paid $5 and $3.20, while betting favorite Nisharora was a half-length back in third and returned $2.80.
