UW ranked 12th in preseason coaches' poll
The first USA Today coaches' college football poll was released Thursday, and it comes as no surprise Wisconsin is highly ranked.
The Badgers are 12th in the preseason poll after finishing last season ranked 11th.
UW is the second highest-ranked Big Ten team, with Michigan ranked eighth. Just two other Big Ten teams join the Badgers and Wolverines in the poll, with Michigan State ranked 13th and Nebraska 16th.
No other Big Ten teams were even among the teams receiving votes.
LSU is the top-ranked team, even though second-ranked Alabama and third-ranked Southern California received more first-place votes.
The Southeastern Conference has five of the preseason top 10 teams, with Georgia (sixth), South Carolina (ninth) and Arkansas (10th) joining LSU and Alabama.
Oklahoma (fourth), Oregon (fifth) and Florida State round out the top 10, while West Virginia comes in at No. 11.
