Utah gleefully responds to 'cupcake' label after beating Michigan
Utah was a 4- or 5-point favorite (depending on when you might've placed a wager) for Thursday's season-opening game against Michigan.
This did not make the Utes feel better about being called a "cupcake" by Popular Mechanics magazine. (You read that right: It wasn't Sports Illustrated or Athlon or any other sports publication. It was Popular Mechanics.)
The magazine's monthly calendar featured this blurb about the Sept. 3 game: "College football season gets underway tonight with the University of Michigan in a cupcake game against Utah."
The dig stuck with the Utes, who celebrated their 24-17 win over the Wolverines with what else? Cupcakes.
