NEW YORK (AP) U.S. 10,000-meter champion Molly Huddle will make her marathon debut in New York in November.

The 31-year-old Huddle ran the 5,000 meters at the 2012 Olympics and will try to make this summer's Rio Games again on the track at next month's U.S. trials. She is the two-time defending champ at 13.1 miles in the NYC Half.

Huddle is from Elmira, New York, about 3 1/2 hours northwest of Staten Island, where the New York City Marathon will start Nov. 6.

She said Thursday that ''I felt like New York has been calling to me for many seasons.'' Huddle added she finally feels ready to try 26.2 miles ''with my strength work going better than ever.''
