UF's Yeguete, Rosario cleared for practice
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- No. 14 Florida could have two key bench players, forward Will Yeguete and guard Mike Rosario, back from injuries at Arkansas.
Yeguete has been cleared to practice after missing nearly two games because of a concussion, and Rosario has been cleared to play after sitting out two games with a hip pointer.
Coach Billy Donovan said Yeguete passed all five of his post-concussion tests, but cautioned that team doctors still need to see how Yeguete handles practice and travel Friday before potentially clearing him to play.
"He's not cleared to play yet, so a lot's going to depend on what happens here in practice," Donovan said. "How he feels tonight, tomorrow morning's going to have a large impact on whether or not we can play him. If it continues on this path, he could be OK, but he's still not cleared."
Rosario has missed more than a week of practice and his conditioning could keep him on the bench at Arkansas. Donovan said guards Scottie Wilbekin and Casey Prather could be better options until Rosario gets back into playing shape.
"Those guys deserve the opportunity first because they're probably more prepared, more equipped going into this game," Donovan said. "When you're out of practice and out of games for over a week, there probably is a level of rust, there probably is a level of timing that needs to get back."
Yeguete sustained his second concussion of the season last Saturday against Tennessee. Yeguete is averaging 4.5 points and 6.1 rebounds, and plays an important role in Florida's full-court, trapping press.
Rosario is averaging 7.9 points and is fifth on the team with 30 3-pointers. Rosario has missed five games this season because of various injuries.
"I think that'd probably be wishful thinking on my part to think that going in here this guy's going to play a major role in the game," Donovan said. "But he would be available to play if he can continue to get through the practice without any pain."
