UC's Parker Ehinger Named To FWAA Freshman All-America Team
CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati offensive lineman Parker Ehinger (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) was named 12th annual FWAA Freshman All-America Team Monday by the Football Writers Association of America. Ehinger (pronounced: anger) saw action in all 13 games for UC, starting 12. On the two deep coming out of fall camp, Ehinger earned his first career start at right guard against Delaware State. The following week, against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field, he slid over to right tackle where he would start the final 11 games of 2012. Ehinger helped an offensive line unit that paved the way for a 1,000-yard rusher for the third-straight year while surrendering only 15 sacks, a mark that ranks in the Top-20 in the NCAA FBS in 2012. UC’s 5.3 yards per rush average lead the league and ranks No. 14 nationally. The Bearcats also led the BIG EAST in scoring offense (31.0 ppg) and was second in both total offense (430.8 ypg) and rushing offense (199.8). UC rushed for 200 or more yards in seven games and topped 195 yards or more of rushing in nine contests.
