UC youngster nabs AAC honor

Bearcats freshman Gary Clark has been named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after scoring a career-high 13 points and grabbing a team-best eight rebounds in Cincinnati's 78-52 home win over Stony Brook on Dec. 2.

Clark made 6 of 10 shot from the field and contributed two assists, two blocks and a steal in the victory.

Entering this week, Clark ranks among the league leaders in offensive rebounds (first at 3.7), rebounding (second at 8.1), blocks (tied for sixth at 1.7) and field-goal shooting (ninth at 58.1 percent).

Clark has scored in double figures in four of UC's seven games this season. He has pulled down at least six rebounds in every game. He registered his first career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the Bearcats' 66-54 setback against Ole Miss on Nov. 29 in the championship game of the Emerald Coast Classic.

Thomas led all scorers in the matchup with Stony Brook, posting a game-high 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. He also pulled down six rebounds and had two steals.
