UC football assistant fired after arrest
CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati athletic director Mike Bohn announced Tuesday that the school has fired Antrione Archer, the football program's director of player welfare and development, after discovering he was arrested this summer.
Bohn's statement did not specify the reason for Archer's arrest, but according to a report by Cincinnati station WKRC-TV and reporter Joe Webb, Archer has been charged with sex abuse in the third degree for an incident at a Kroger supermarket in Fort Mitchell, Ky., in May. Archer is alleged to have exposed his genitals to a 73-year-old female employee.
UC released a statement from Bohn regarding Archer's dismissal.
"On Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, the University was informed of an arrest involving Antrione Archer in Kenton County, Kentucky. Within hours of learning of the incident, Archer was placed on administrative leave and subsequently terminated on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014. UC Athletics is fully committed to upholding the highest level of professionalism and conduct for our staff, coaches and student-athletes. The University will cooperate with the authorities in this matter."
Archer played college football at Central Michigan University from 2004 to '08. Former UC head coach Butch Jones was Archer's coach at CMU in 2007-08 and was the Bearcats' coach when Archer was hired in 2011.
