Rachel Todorovich, who was honored before the match as part of Senior Day, posted a match-high 20 kills to lead Washington State to a 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-20, 25-14) victory over Arizona in Pullman, Wash.
Todorovich had just one error on 38 swings as she hit .500 on the night. Meanwhile, Jaicee Harris picked up a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs, and Kate Sommer finished with a match-high 23 digs to lead the Washington State defense. The Cougars (13-18, 3-16) hit .245 for the match while holding Arizona (16-14, 8-11) to just .104 hitting.
Freshman Halli Amaro led the Wildcats with 14 kills on .423 hitting to go along with four blocks.
Trailing 13-9 in the opening set, Arizona went on a 4-0 run to tie the score at 13. Washington State won the next two points to regain the lead, and Arizona was unable to tie the score. The Cougars closed the set on a 12-5 run to win 25-18. Washington State hit .317 in the set, while Arizona was limited to just .146.
The Wildcats got off to a much better start in the second set as they jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, which forced the Cougars to take a quick timeout. After Washington State cut the lead to three at 11-8, Arizona went on a 5-0 run to take a comfortable 16-8 lead. The Wildcats built their lead to as much as 12 and despite a bit of sloppy play at the end of the set, they were able to tie the match with a 25-17 victory. The Cats hit just .179 in the set, but Washington State was held to .041.
After Arizona jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the third set, Washington State went on a 10-3 run to take a 10-6 lead. Washington State maintained a lead until Arizona slowly climbed back to tie the score at 17. The Cougars won the next two points to regain the lead and Arizona was never able to catch back up. Washington State went on to take the set, 25-20.
The fourth set was all Washington State, as the Cougars jumped out to a 13-4 lead. Arizona was never able to get back into it, as WSU cruised to a 25-14 victory to clinch the match.
The Wildcats close out the regular season on Friday at Arizona State. The match is set for a 6 p.m. start and will air on the Pac-12 Networks.
