UA softball improves to 3-0

The University of Arizona softball improved to 3-0 on Friday with two victories at the season-opening Kajikawa Classic in Tempe. The Wildcats hit five home runs while defeating Utah 8-3 and Nebraska 6-1.

Freshman Shelby Babcock earned her first collegiate victory against Utah. She pitched four scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth and sixth, giving up three runs, one earned.

Brittany Lastrapes was 3 for 3 in the victory, including a solo home run. Kristen Arriola and Brigette Del Ponte each contributed two-run homers.

Kenzie Fowler was the winning pitcher against Nebraska, giving up four hits and one run in seven innings and striking out nine.
