U.S. Open Hole 5 preview -- Chambers Bay, 18 holes in 18 days

In the 18 days leading up to the June 18 start of the U.S. Open Golf Championship, FOX Sports.com and Golfweek will preview the Chambers Bay course -- one hole at a time.
Today’s hole: No. 5 -- Par 4, 488 yards
This tee looks like a launching pad with Puget Sound as a backdrop. A narrowed-down landing area starts at 300 yards out, where deep sands converge from both sides. The tee shot here plays into a prevailing left wind, and shots not struck perfectly could bounce around like a ping-pong ball upon landing. This dogbone-shaped green is one of the smallest putting surfaces on the course, and is fronted by a steep little pot bunker that makes center/left hole locations hard to access and hold.
