MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin's football team will play two prime time games in September against Utah State and Nebraska, the Big Ten announced Tuesday.
The Badgers will play host to Utah State on Sept. 15 in a game televised by Big Ten Network. It marks the second night game on BTN to feature Wisconsin. The only other prime time BTN game Wisconsin has been a part of was a 28-20 victory against Northern Illinois in the 2009 season opener.
On. Sept. 29, Wisconsin will open Big Ten play with a night game at Nebraska. The Badgers will travel to Nebraska's Memorial Stadium for the first time since 1973 in a game to be televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. Last season, Wisconsin opened its Big Ten season with a primetime game against Nebraska and won, 48-17, in front of a nationally televised audience.
Both primetime games this season will start at 7 p.m. CT.
Wisconsin played a school-record five night games in 2011, finishing 3-2 in those contests. Wisconsin defeated UNLV, Nebraska and Michigan State (during the Big Ten championship game) and lost at Michigan State during the regular season and at Ohio State. The Badgers have played 16 prime time games during coach Bret Bielema's six seasons and are 12-4 in those contests. Dating back to 1995, Wisconsin is 29-5 in its last 34 night games.
According to Wisconsin's sports information department, no additional night games featuring Wisconsin will be scheduled in 2012.
