The Minnesota Twins have selected the contract of outfielder Matt Carson from Triple-A Rochester prior to Friday's game in Seattle.

To make room for Carson on the 40-man roster, the Twins outrighted outfielder Rene Tosoni, who is currently playing for Double-A New Britain.

Minnesota made several roster moves Wednesday, including optioning pitchers Luis Perdomo and Jeff Manship to Rochester and activated right-hander Anthony Swarzak from the 15-day disabled list. The team announced at the time that another corresponding roster move would be made prior to Friday's game. That move ended up being Carson, who spent parts of the 2009 and 2010 seasons with the Oakland Athletics.

Carson, 31, was batting .277 in 110 games with the Red Wings this year, including 14 homers and 49 RBI. In his 105 career major league plate appearances, Carson was 20-for-100 with two walks, five home runs and 14 RBI.

Carson played all three outfield positions for Rochester this year, but spent most of his time (91 games) in right field.
