Twins select contract of LHP Tyler Robertson
The Minnesota Twins have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Tyler Robertson from Triple-A Rochester, the team announced Sunday. A corresponding roster move will be made before Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox.
Indications are that the Twins will place closer Matt Capps on the disabled list, as the right-hander has been battling a shoulder injury. Capps pitched on Saturday but did not close in Sunday's game.
Robertson, 24, was a third-round draft pick of the Twins in 2006. He spent all of the 2011 season with Double-A New Britain, and began this season with Rochester. In 33 relief appearances this season, Roberts was 2-2 with a 3.77 ERA, including two saves. He's recorded 33 strikeouts and walked 13 in 28-2/3 innings. If and when he appears for the Twins this season, he will be making his major league debut.
