As the Minnesota Twins head into the offseason next week, they do so with many question marks on the pitching staff. None of the five starters the Twins had in their rotation to start the year ended the 2012 season on the 25-man roster. Carl Pavano was shut down with an injury. Scott Baker had season-ending Tommy John surgery. Jason Marquis was released. Francisco Liriano was traded. Nick Blackurn was taken off the 40-man roster. That means Minnesota has plenty to figure out this offseason. Several other pitchers who didn't originally begin the year in the rotation — or, in most cases, in the majors — were given plenty of chances to start for the Twins in 2012.
